The Chief Commissioner of the Federal Capital Territory of Rajagriha (Hindi: संघीय राजधानी क्षेत्र राजगृह के मुख्य आयुक्त), known formerly as the Mayor of Rajagriha, is the head and chief executive authority of the federal capital territory of Rajagriha, the national capital of Vishwamitra as well as the state capital of Purvanchal.
The position was initially titled as "Mayor of Rajagriha" from 2020 until 2023. Following the adoption of the Federal Territories Act of 2023, Rajagriha was designated as a federal territory and its head was titled as Chief Commissioner. On 4 November 2023, the mayor of Rajagriha was officially re-designated as the chief commissioner. The current office-holder is Princess Krishna, Princess Mother of Purvanchal who has been in office since 25 July 2023.
Prior to being constituted as a federal territory, the mayor was appointed by the Rajpramukh of Purvanchal upon discussion with state authorities. However, since becoming a federal territory, the power to appoint the chief commissioner has been vested upon the Rashtradhyaksh in consultation with the Minister of Federal Affairs and Administration.
History
The position of the mayor came into existence in July 2020 after the creation of the federal capital of Rajagriha. At the time of its creation, the position was known as that of the "Governor of Rajagriha". Himprakash Deka was appointed as the first office-holder on 26 July 2020 and remained in office till being replaced by Florian Corre on 1 December 2020. Corre became the last governor of Rajagriha and the first Mayor of Rajagriha.
On 12 February 2021, the position of the governors of the capitals was abolished and replaced with that of the mayors. On 25 July 2021, Prince Debajyoti, the Prince Father of Purvanchal was appointed as the second Mayor of Rajagriha and served in office until 25 July 2023.
With the inception of the Constitution of Vishwamitra on 1 August 2021, Rajagriha was formally declared as the Federal Capital Territory thus placing the territory under the joint jurisdiction of the central as well as the state government of Purvanchal.
On 25 July 2023, Prince Father Debajyoti was succeeded by Princess Krishna, Princess Mother of Purvanchal as the mayor of Rajagriha. She was re-designated as chief commissioner of Rajagriha on 4 November 2023, months after Rajagriha's becoming a federal territory.

Powers and functions
The functions and responsibilities to be rendered by the Chief Commissioner of Rajagriha is similar to those reserved for chief commissioners of the other federal territories. In addition to this, being the chief executive of the national capital, the chief commissioner also discharges ceremonial duties along with civic duties. The duties of the chief commissioner include:
- maintenance of law and order in the federal capital territory.
- keeping track of sanitation and hygiene.
- keeping track of all environment related subjects.
- hosting civic receptions for national and foreign dignitaries.
- planning, executing and hosting ceremonies.
