The Ministry for Civil Defence and National Resilience (Norwegian: Sivilforsvarsdepartement) is the Uskorian Ministry responsible for overseeing various Law Enforcement, Fire Prevention , First Aid, Civil Defence and national resilience agencies and policies of the Uskorian Government.
Headquartered in Freyavik, Ny-Troms the Ministry oversees the operation of a number of agencies, the Minister responsible is; Charlotte Katrinsdottir from the Uskorian People’s Party, she has been Minister for Civil Defence and National Resilience since July 2020.

History

The Ministry has it’s history with the now defunct Ministry for State Security which oversaw a number of mandated roles including espionage, counterintelligence, border security, defence, civil defence and law enforcement.
Under the machinery of government changes instituted by Runa Calabresi-Halvorsen the Prime Minister at the time, the Ministry for State Security was split into two Ministries; the Ministry for Civil Defence and National Resilience and the Ministry for Defence.

Oversight mechanisms

The Ministry for Civil Defence and National Resilience has a number of Oversight mechanisms and organisations within it’s remit.
Parliamentry Oversight is provided through the sitting Minister for Civil Defence and National Resilience who must answer for the Ministry’s actions in Parliament.
The agencies and services within the Ministry for Civil Defence and National Resilience are overseen by the Board of Commissioners and various commissions regarding oversight and civil liberties protections.
