Peter Gedye OAE AHE OS is the second most important figure in Arstotzkan Politics. Peter is the currently the Minister of Justice and is the founder of Communist League of the Arstotzkan Union and the Arstotzkan Pirate Party. In 2020 Peter helped establish the coalition government which is today the Second Democratic People's Party of the Arstotzkan Union. Peter is also very active in the Military, with him holding a position in Arstotzkan High Command and the Arstotzkan Union Navy. Peter is also the Attorney General.
From 2020 - 2023, Peter served as the 1st Second President of the Arstotzkan Union until a change of leadership by the First and Vice Presidents. Peter was the longest serving President in the history of the Arstotzkan Union serving for 1173 days or 82% of the history of the Arstotzkan Union.
History
Peter Gedye has been a member of Arstotzkan Politics since the very beginning. Peter received his Dukeship from President Ethan Brinkman on August 22nd 2019. On September 6th 2019, Peter was promoted to Vice President of the Arstotzkan Union due to the lack of representation from the VP at the time, Zion Ormsby. Peter was seen as a loyal supporter of the Brinkman Administration and rejected the fall of the Arstotzkan Union on September 18th 2019. Peter was instrumental in the building of the Arstotzkan Union, helping President Ethan with examples of other micronations and even guidance on the Democratic Communist system that was implemented by President Ethan in the beginning of the Arstotzkan Union.
When it came to the First Civil Conflict, Peter supported the National Government against the separatists of the Ministry of Defense. When the Conflict ended however on November 25th 2019, Peter was not selected as the Vice President. This was no fault of anyone's. His service was overlooked because of the rush to re-establish the Union following the conclusion of Conflict. When the Arstotzkan Union fell into a Second Civil Conflict between the National Government and Anti-Arstotzkan Rebels from the Democratic Labour Party of Arstotzka (DLPA), Peter fell out of the Government in its rush against the war. His patriotism was forgotten but nonetheless there. Due to his connection to the mastermind of the Second Civil Conflict, Piran McGee, he was not placed on a list to rejoin the government during the conflict and was re-integrated into it following the conclusion of the Second Conflict.
Things changed however. When it was announced on March 9th 2020 that elections would be held Peter announced that he would create his own parties, independent from the Arstotzkan People’s Party, which had held control of the National Assembly since its inception months before. To the dismay of President Ethan, Peter requested his name be placed on the Presidential Ballot, and Ethan accepted. However, with many claiming that they would rather vote against Ethan’s presidency, Ethan moved to establish a coalition with Peter and was successful on the grounds that if they won that Peter would become Second President of the Arstotzkan Union. He got his wish as on May 1st 2020, the United Government Alliance won the election in a very narrow race.
Peter has held the position in the Office of the Presidency since that day.
On 17 July 2023, following a review by the House Select Committee on Executive Reform, Peter Gedye was voted from his position as Second President of the Arstotzkan Union and on the evening of the same day, Samantha Johnson was sworn in as the 2nd Second President of the Arstotzkan Union.
