The Ruisseauan Civil War was one of the largest war-related events in the history of micronationalism within Orange County. The war was a result of Shahanic revivalism, a nationalistic ideal that caused the war. It began when Frederick Zaïn, a friend and advisor to the former Westavian monarch styled himself Shahan II. John II, the Prince Primate of Ruisseau summoned the General Council and mobilized his army, the following months devastated Ruisseau and Irvine.

The turning point of the war was the Battle of Laskaridia, also known as the Defence of Laskaridia, in which the Ruisseauans decimated the Westavian rebels and forced them back into the jungles of Irvine. The neo-Westavians surrendered unconditionally at the treaty of Denauplatsz on January 3, 2020, just shy of the one-year anniversary.

Background

The Westavian Empire was one of the most powerful states in Irvine during its time, wielding a hegemony over the region. The Westavian Empire eventually fell but many thinkers and patriots within the Ruisseauan confederacy sought to revive the rosy image of the empire. They formed an ideology called Shahanic Revivalism, and formed a "revivalist assembly". The Ruisseauans did not respond to this until they were in open revolt.

The Shahanic revivalists would hold protests, demanding a restoration of the Shahanic Line, though due to the intervention of the royal Police, it would be stalled.

Timeline

The following is a timeline of the Ruisseauan Civil War.

Initial developments

The neo-Westavian revivalists began their revolt roughly a mile away from Laskaridia, and began hiking towards it, they were caught by Ruisseauan gendarmerie and were forced to retreat. Not much happened during this time.

Battle of Donnauberg

The revivalist armies led by the Count of Antogen attempted an advance on Laskaridia, but failed to take the city, resulting in the battle of Donnauberg.

Aftermath

The aftermath of the war saw lots of tension between ethnic and linguistic Westavian groups.
