The West River Department of National Defence (DOND), commonly known as the State Department, is a department of the federal government of the West River Confederation charged with coordinating and supervising all functions of the government directly related to national security and the West River Armed Forces. Established in October 2020 by the Riveri Constitution,[1] DOND is headed by the Secretary of National Defence and is headquartered at the Lewis Building in Jacksville, Logastan.
Secretary of National Defence
The West River Secretary of State is the director of the West River Department of National Defence and a member of the Federal Cabinet that answers to, and directly advises, the President of the West River Confederation. The Secretary of State organizes and supervises the activies of the department.
The position is currently vacant. President Benjamin Pickles appointed Logan Jack as the interim secretary in October 2020, however Jack resigned to take office as first minister. On 2 January 2021, Benjamin Pickles announced that he would nominate Alex Carranza to the position.
