New Ultramaar Oblast was an oblast of Gishabrun SAR, Renasia. It was the successor to the Autonomous Empire of Maccrage within the Tsarist Empire of Gishabrun.
Etymology
New Ultramaar, which consisted of Ambassador Cyril's residence, was named after his previous residence, which was known as the High Duchy of Ultramaar. The name "Ultramaar" is a corruption of "Ultramar", the realm of the Ultramarines in the Warhammer 40K fictional universe. The word itself means "beyond the sea" in Latin.
History
New Ultramaar was first claimed as a High Duchy within the Autonomous Empire of Maccrage on 22 February 2012, when HEE Emperor-Maqruis Cyril I of Maccrage moved from his old residence, the High Duchy of Ultramaar. This claim was retained when Gishabrun was annexed by Renasia, but was reorganised as an oblast with no autonomous status.
New Ultramaar Oblast was finally returned to Canadian sovereignty when Gishabrun transitioned to a non-territorial entity, on 5 May 2015.
Geography
The climate of what was New Ultramaar Oblast is continental (but modified by the nearby river with the Lake Effect), meaning it has an average of 9.5 degrees Celsius, with 133.1 cm of snowfall each winter and 834 mm of precipitation year-round. New Ultramaar Oblast consisted of the residence of Ambassador Cyril, and bordered Canada on all sides.
