The Cabinet of Arlandica (Cebuano: Kabinete sa Arlandika) is the official cabinet of the Kingdom of Arlandica, headed by the monarch. Along with agencies and state-owned enterprises, it forms a part of the executive branch. The Cabinet maintains close ties with the Royal family and Parliament. Ministries exercise control over agencies and state-owned enterprises.
History
Since 2021, there have been attempts to establish a cabinet. The Ministry of Home Affairs and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs were the first ministries to be initially established; however, they were abolished on December 31, 2022.
On February 19, 2024, the cabinet was formally established after a constitutional amendment and an act of Parliament. The first ministers of the cabinet were King Jerold I himself and other top Arlandican government officials. They are serving as temporary ministers until permanent or official ministers are appointed.
Purpose
The purpose of the cabinet is to control state-owned enterprises and agencies, ensuring their efficient operation. Each ministry in the cabinet has control over the government agencies and enterprises within its area of responsibility. Government agencies and state-owned enterprises are jointly owned and overseen by Parliament and the Royal family.
The creation or dissolution of a ministry lies within a royal decree by the monarch or an act of Parliament.
Appointment
Ministers are appointed by the monarch, and appointees may already hold other government positions within the legislative or judicial branches. Alternatively, the monarch may appoint an ordinary Arlandican.
Meetings of the Cabinet
The cabinet conducts its meetings in the Government Center building or in His Majesty's Office in Santo Niño City. There are cases when they may hold joint sessions with members of Parliament through online forums.
Ministry of Home Affairs
The Ministry of Home Affairs oversees health services, infrastructure development, local administration, environmental protection, culture, sports affairs, education, financial and economic affairs, and science and technology. The current minister is Jeanne, the incumbent Governor-Representative of Nueva Bago and the heir apparent to the Arlandican throne.
Ministry of Foreign Affairs
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs manages diplomatic relations, foreign policy matters, representation in international forums, and protectorates. The current minister is Benz Gian Arellano, the incumbent Governor-Representative of Lémarita and the President of the Parliament.
Ministry of Information
The Ministry of Information regulates media, collects and disseminates statistical data, manages communications infrastructure, passports, identification of the citizens, coordinates public information campaigns, and promotes transparency. The current minister is Jerold I, who is the current monarch.
Ministry of Defense
The Ministry of Defense maintains law and order, ensures security, implements strategies for self-defense, coordinates emergency response efforts, and conducts intelligence gathering. The current minister is General Jay Arce, who is the current Chief of Staff of the Civil Guard.
