Donnel Kálamar Seaworth (Sabian: donel kálamar goravái sivori) is a Sabioveronese Liberal politician and retired police officer. He currently serves as a member of Parliament for the Liberal Party, representing the Gonn list constituency. Seaworth previously served as Secretary of Justice in the 11th government, led by Andrew Blackhorse, and under Noa Dargany in the 10th government.

Seaworth began his career in the Sabioveronese Gendarmerie (police), before getting into politics. Seaworth's political career began as Lieutenant Secretary (mayor) of Elinore, having been appointed by the national unity government of Osez Kóvérsz upon the city's foundation in 2013. Seaworth was then appointed as Minister for Economy by Ann Stefanović, representing the Roots Party in the PA-NT's coalition government. In 2014, Seaworth took a hiatus from politics to serve as General-Commissioner of the newly reformed Royal Auror Corps (formerly known as the Gendarmerie).

Seaworth took part in the Haronos Plan (stage I), and has been a member of the Liberal Party since then. In 2017, he was elected to be the first President of the Parliament for the duration of the 3rd Parliament.

Early and personal life

Donnel Seaworth is originally from Caenia. He became a citizen of Sabia and Verona in 2012, shortly after the Kingdom's foundation. He joined the Gendarmerie (military police) when it was created, and worked as a gendarme in Salisse. Seaworth is a practicing member of the Pahunist faith, becoming a follower of the religion during High Priest Senna's reign. Seaworth is known to be close friends to other prominent Caenian personalities, including Osez Kóvérsz and the Stefanović family, as well as Aina Oehler and the Duke of Monesari.

Seaworth's chosen matronymic, Goravái, means "son of the sea" (from gor, "sea", and the suffix -vái used in all Sabian matronymics). He shares this matronymic with Noa Dargany.

Career

When Elinore was created out of the western districts of Salisse in early 2013, Seaworth was appointed by the Kóvérsz government to be the new city's Lieutenant Secretary (mayor) in interim fashion; he served until August 2013, when a new Lt. Secretary, Anton Schubert-Moss, was elected. Originally an independent, he joined the Roots Party upon its foundation in 2013.

Economy Minister and police chief

As a member of the Roots Party, Seaworth quickly grew to prominence and at the September 2013 election, he became a member of the Courts representing Elinore. He was chosen by the newly elected Prime Minister, Ann Stefanović, to serve as Minister for Economy in her new government. Under his administration, the government attempted to introduce a micronational currency in Sabia and Verona, the apira. The offices of the Bank of Sabia and Verona (unrelated to the present-day National Bank of Sabia and Verona) were to be used to print the currency, which was supposed to begin circulation in mid-2014. However, the plans were eventually scrapped due to the lack of resources as a result of the crisis in neighboring Venezuela. When the Roots Party split into the Left Alliance and Convergence and Amity, Seaworth joined the Convergence Party, having belonged to the more moderate wing of Roots and distrusting the Sabioveronese left. He was succeeded as Economy Minister by Vinter Jens upon the accession of the Galieri cabinet after the March 2014 election.

At the March 2014 election, Seaworth stood as a candidate for Convergence in the Elinore I Divedrinata legislative district. After an uneventful term as legislator, Seaworth announced in mid-2014 that he would not stand as a candidate in the September 2014 election. Instead, he returned to the Gendarmerie, now known as the Royal Auror Corps (RGA), after being offered a position as General-Commissioner (head chief) after the retirement of Gen. Com. Gunther van Marden. He completed his term as Member of the Courts on 1 October 2014, and was succeeded in his district by Unity's Raphaël Rivière, twin brother of Prime Minister Bertrand Rivière.

After participating in Stage I of the Haronos Plan, Seaworth joined the Unity Party, now led by Andrew Blackhorse. He organized the move of the RGA head offices from Salisse to Sabia and Verona's new capital in Alios. The most notable case handled by the RGA under Seaworth's directive was the Koringate embezzlement scandal.

Post-Haronos work

Ahead of the 2016 general election, Seaworth announced he would be stepping down as RGA General-Commissioner to run for a seat in Parliament for Unity. He contested the newly created constituency of Mattel, in the Kodesari district of Alios, and won. During this time, he became a prominent member of Unity's parliamentary bloc, especially after the refoundation of the party as the Liberals, and after the 2017 general election (in which the Liberals won a majority), Seaworth was chosen to be the new President of the Parliament, a position created by the Constitution of 2017.

Following the 2018 general election, Seaworth was chosen by Prime Minister Noa Dargany to serve as her Secretary of Justice, replacing Dímeros Grenouille (who took over from Seaworth as President of the Parliament). Seaworth retained his position when Andrew Blackhorse replaced Dargany as Prime Minister in late 2018, after having supported Blackhorse's Liberal party leadership challenge.
