About

The Principality de Grondines-Anjou, known commonly as Grondines-Anjou, was founded on 21 May 2021, by His Sovereign Majesty The Prince Jeremy David Paul Hamelin de Grondines-Anjou. The Principality is a micronation which is currently run out of Chateau Grondines, which also serves as the Royal Estate and Canadian Embassy and is located in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. The Principality also has a smaller Consular Office in Edmonton. In addition to the territories located in Western Canada, the Principality has plans to purchase a parcel of land in Deschambault-Grondines, Quebec, Canada which will be the eventual mainland territory of the nation. The Principality also has land claims inside France. Specifically, Chateau de Falaise, in Northern France which was in the historic possession of the family of His Sovereign Majesty The Prince. For this reason, His Sovereign Majesty The Prince has rightfully claimed Chateau de Falaise for The Principality. Organized as a traditional constitutional monarchy, the Principality has its own constitution, governing structure, and class of nobility, La Noblesse. The official languages of the Principality are French and English.

Etymology

The name Grondines-Anjou is an honorary nod at His Sovereign Majesty The Prince. Grondines, comes from Deschambault-Grondines, (Quebec, Canada) where His Sovereign Majesty The Prince's family were the original Seigneurs of the land. Anjou, was the name of the capital province in a region of old France known as Angers. This is the region from where His Sovereign Majesty The Prince's family originally came.

National Symbols

The flag of the Principality de Grondines-Anjou is based on the French tricolore and Royal Standard. The deep blue on the edges represents liberté — freedom — while the white centre represents The Royal Family de Grondines-Anjou. The golden fleur-de-lis are a representation of the importance of La Noblesse — the noble class of Grondines-Anjou — with the large central fleur-de-lis representing His Sovereign Majesty The Prince.

The Coat of Arms of Grondines-Anjou features a beautiful sapphire-blue shield and golden fleur-de-lis as the central point. The blue again representing freedom and the golden fleur-de-lis are representing La Noblesse. The white cross running through the shield symbolize both The Royal Family and their God-given right to rule. To the left of the shield a proud Stag stands at the ready, he represents strength fortitude, not fighting unless provoked, and a tie to France. Opposite, on the right, a black bear is reared up representing cunning, ferocity in protecting one's own, and Quebec. Below the shield lies the motto of The Principality, “Liberté de la Noblesse,” or in English “Freedom of the Nobility.” The motto is engrained in the Principality and is a reflection of the importance of the role played by La Noblesse. The entire Coat of Arms is enshrouded by a gorgeous ermine robe under a crown to represent His Sovereign Majesty The Prince as being the head of the Principality.

The Royal Standard de Grondines-Anjou is very similar to the Coat of Arms. The two immediately notable differences are the addition of an “H” in the centre of the shield — to represent the centrality of His Sovereign Majesty The Prince as well as the entire Royal Family — and the replacement of the motto of the Principality with the words “Royal House of Hamelin”. His Sovereign Majesty The Prince is the current Head and Sovereign of The Royal House of Hamelin. On its own, this amended Coat of Arms is knows as The Royal Arms de Grondines-Anjou, but when flown on a white background with golden fleur-de-lis and sapphire-blue boarder it becomes The Royal Standard de Grondines-Anjou.

The Royal Seal de Grondines-Anjou is itself, very similar to The Royal Arms. The main difference is that the motto has been added back in and the sapphire-blue ermine robe has removed. Instead, a crown representing His Sovereign Majesty The Prince has been placed directly atop the shield and a banner reading “Royal Seal de Grondines-Anjou” encircles it.

The Royal Cypher, which appears on all documents and statements that come directly from His Sovereign Majesty The Prince. At the centre of the cypher are the letters "J" and "P" - the "J" represents His Sovereign Majesty The Prince Jeremy, while the "P" represents the Latin word princeps which means Prince and is the equivalent of the Reginal "R". The date, 2021, represents the year His Sovereign Majesty The Prince was coronated. The abundance of golden flour-de-lis represent both the Principality as well as La Noblesse, and finally, the crown, represents the authority of His Sovereign Majesty The Prince.
