The Hackefälla ferry (Swedish: Hackefällafärjan or Båten vid Hackefälla) is a passenger ferry on Svartån in the waters around the islands of former provinces Hackefälla, Tortoise Island and Upper Backa south of Thulia. It is the primary way of getting to the islands.
The general area served is c. 900 metres (0.5 miles). The intervals of crossings depend solely on how long the passengers use the ferry. The ferry can take a maximum of 3 passengers. The service can operate at any given time, unless there is ice on the river.
Vessel
The vessel used is named Amiral Torsten after the last leader of the Kingdom of Hackefälla. An oar is used for paddling, which lays on the deck when on the islands and in Korskaay when not. It is unknown where or when she was built. She is made of fiberglass and is 3.9 metres (12 ft 7 in) long and 1.5 metre (4 ft 9 in) wide. During the flooding of Mornerkaay after the Storm Hans in early August 2023, Amiral Torsten was used to transport goods and people in Mornerkaay and to rescue snails from drowning.
