Upper Backa, officially the Province of Upper Backa (Swedish: Provinsen Övre Backa), was a province in Thulia. During its time as a province, it had a size of 0.0003 km2, constituting 0.33% of Thulia's then land area. Upper Backa was located on a group of islands in the River Svartån, which lay 50 metres (164 ft) apart. The islands are accessible via swimming from the shore or nearby dock, or via the Hackefälla ferry. On 16 December, the province was ceded to Sweden during the Cession of Hatiubbust after a decision by the State Council.
