The Kalian-Travaman-Slitronian Conflict, which began in September 2023, was a multifaceted diplomatic crisis involving the nations of the Estonian micronations of Estonian Republic of Kali, the Estonian Travaman Republic, and the Great Kingdom of Slitronia.

Course of war

The conflict began when on September 27, 2023, around 18:51 local time Karl-Kristjan Sirel, a citizen and a previous state elder of Kalia, initiated contact with Jaanus Noormägi, the President of Travaman, issuing a war declaration. Following this, Karl-Kristjan Sirel also contacted Johannes I, the Great King of Slitronia, informing him of Kalia's declaration of war on Slitronia, demanding all of its territories as terms for peace, which were promptly rebuffed. In response, Johannes I revoked the mutual recognition treaty with Kalia and revealed plans to establish a temporary alliance with Travaman.

Diplomatic discussions ensued between Johannes I and Koit Tamme, the High Elder of Kalia, with Johannes I outlining a condition for dialogue: the establishment of a preventive system against future hostilities. However, internal discord within Kalia emerged when Kert Tamme asserted that Koit was not opposed to the war. Travaman formally declared a state of war at 20:07, and an alliance between Slitronia and Travaman was solidified by the signing of the Mutual Support and Cooperation Agreement a few minutes later. Johannes I was subsequently contacted by the Revalian king, Sander II, referencing a treaty of alliance between Slitronia and Revalia, potentially implicating Revalia in the ongoing conflict.

Johannes I also reached out to the Baltic Union, of which both Kalia and Slitronia were members, for its perspective on the matter. Koit Tamme claimed that the declaration of war on Travaman was made as a joke, initially in response to a casual inquiry about their activity level. Karl-Kristjan, allegedly responsible for the declaration, did not hold a governmental position that could officially declare wars. Therefore, they argued it shouldn't be considered an official declaration. Johannes I acknowledged it as a joke but expressed concern due to the past positions of Karl-Kristjan and Kert in Kalia. He worried that with the approaching elections, they might leverage their influence to continue the conflict. Johannes I proposed reopening dialogue with Kalia but emphasized the need for a system to prevent such informal declarations from escalating into official actions. Koit agreed that such a system would be implemented in Kalia.

Arwelk I of Esgeldia, a member of the Baltic Union, supported the creation of a system to prevent such occurrences and added that waging wars between the member countries of the BU is unacceptable and should lead to the complete exclusion of the aggressor from the Union, a sentiment supported by Nemals I Agwarnals of Taileria.

On November 1st, Johannes I began drafting a peace treaty after Koit confirmed that a system to prevent such occurrences had been put in place. The peace treaty was finally signed by representatives of Kalia, Travaman, and Slitronia on November 11th, marking the end of the conflict.
