Vehicle registration plates of Græcia

Græcian vehicle registration plates are composed of a two-letter borough code which is separated by the coat of arms of Græcia and four digits per plate (e.g. ΑΑ––0000). The letters represent represent the borough that issues the plates while the numbers range from 1000 to 9999 for civil vehicles, and from 0000 to 0999 for state ones.

History

2022–present

The first and current series were designed to be simple, yet informative, without the excessive use of codes that can be seen on macronational vehicle registration plates.

Regular plates

The standard regular plate consists of two letters that indicate the issuing borough, the Græcian Coat of Arms, and four randomly assigned numbers, all of which are separated by a dash (e.g. ΑΑ––0000). The design was partially influenced by the Croatian, and the Hellenic one. The font used for regular plates is the regular version of "[TBD]". The plates are white, the numbers and digits are black and the border has two colours: red on top and blue on the bottom – the shades being derived from the flag of Græcia. Since the first 1.000 digits are reserved for state use, regular plates can only have a number between 1000 and 9999.

Vanity plates

Since by Græcia's laws, the regular license plates are only required to be present in the front of the vehicle, drivers are allowed to put customised plates in the rear, for the symbolic fee of 25 staters. Vanity plates can have any colour, any font and font colour and are not subject to regional markers.

Although drivers are allowed to do so, they are obliged to obtain a bumper sticker with the indication of the borough which issued the vehicle's license plates; then, they must stick it somewhere on the rear bumper, in a visible spot, in order to give the bare minimum information needed for the authorities, in case of an emergency. The sticker is usually of oval shape, white, with a black border and letters.

Special plates

To be continued.

Borough codes

Since the boroughs do not possess two-letter codes in the official script of their language(s), but rather only incorporate the international ones that have been regulated in accord with the standards set by the Standardisation Council of Mouzilo, there are no special editions for internal use, in order to avoid unnecessary conflict, given the fact that Græcia claims land in various macronations.
