The Pontunian succession dispute is an ongoing dispute over the legitimate successors to the Kingdom of Pontunia. The dispute began in February 2023 with the Madgett v. Perdomo court case ruled by Bryce Smith who had determined that Charles I, Emperor of Ela'r'oech was the legal Monarchy of Pontchartrain-Maurepas. This would result in Andrew Perdomo, the former monarch, establishing a Catholic Republic. The dispute would reach a peak in tensions from October to December 2023, before calming down in 2024. The Pontunian claim is recognized by the Rouen Accords while the Elarian side is supported by other nations.

Background

After a third party had nuked the Pontunian discord server in 2022, the Empire of Ela'r'oech offered a merger in the form of a United Kingdom. The proposal was accepted and gave birth to the United Kingdom of the Great Bayou. Following tensions within Bayou, Pontunian seceded.
