The Royal Cybernautics (Portuguese: Régia Cibernáutica), also called Royal Ebenthaler Cybernautics, is the cyberwarfare-dedicated semi-standing military force of Ebenthal. The Royal Cybernautics was created on 5 February 2024 to replace the RRF, acknowledging the fact that the main possible threats to Ebenthal are found in cyberspace. It is a volunteer military; its members receive training, but only perform active duty when necessary. The Royal Cybernautics subordinate to the Ministry of Defense and is headed by an Admiral, while the King of Ebenthal is the force's commander-in-chief and holds the ultimate military authority.
Organization
Ebenthal adopts the civilian control of the military model. Royal Cybernautics is an autonomous institution, however it is subordinated to the Ministry of Defense. As a rule, the Minister of Defense appoints two senior officers and the Monarch, as commander-in-chief, appoints one of them at the rank of Admiral to the position of commander of Royal Cybernautics. Without conscription, Royal Cybernautics is a volunteer military force with enlistment from 14 years of age. At the time of enlistment, loyalty is sworn to the Crown, not to the person of the Monarch, nor to the State itself. The Tribune of Truth interprets that although the Crown actively represents the State, they are two distinct institutions, so that by swearing loyalty to the Crown, if the State transforms from a monarchy into a republic, the military are essentially relieved duty.
As a semi-standing military force, members of Royal Cybernautics have military and civilian occupations and do not perform active duty, whereas they typically serve when required, such as in trainings, missions or as diplomatic representatives.
Military rankings
The insignia and ranks of the Royal Cybernautics were defined by the Royal Cybernautics Act, which created the military force. Maintaining the ancient Lusophone tradition of Brazilian Empire and Kingdom of Portugal, Ebenthal calls the rank of Aspirant Alferes. Aesthetically, the insignia were inspired by those of Finland and Independent State of Croatia.
