The Great Ruislip War (December 2013 - July 2016) was a war in the Ruislip Tetrarchy region which broke out due to failing relations between members of the government of the Republic of Clubhausia. The war gained traction in the local school, of which all the members of Clubhausia were apart of, which led to many warlords declaring their own rival governments. Alliances changed drastically over the 2 years it lasted, until a combined effort by the Clubhausian Government in Exile and Lytera led to a peace deal.

Prelude

In 2008, a group of friends from Bourne Primary School discovered a hidden alcove in a giant row of hedges at Stonefield park, which bordered their school. For a few days, it just became a small hobby, until they decided to create their own laws. This was the founding of Clubhausia. The government was a parliament style, where a majority vote won deals, and everyone was equal. The seven members of the council would later become the key players in the civil war. These council members, called Senators, were:

The reasoning for Lytera's founding in 2010 didn't contribute to the war, and therefore will not be mentioned here.

Collapse of Clubhausia

In December 2013, an argument between two of the major ‘party’ leaders broke out. These two had the most influence on Clubhausia. The two fighters were Zoe and John, whose friendship had been on the decline for months, even outside of the country. Unfortunately, a heated argument over policies led to Zoe breaking away, forming the nation of Fizona. By this time, the country had amassed a large group of members who’d often observe and join the meetings, mainly from the school. Many of these observers broke away with Zoe.

The start of 2014 saw conflict break out not only with Fizona, but with Clubhausia itself. Losing ⅓ of it’s members, John went into damage control. He decreed that the country needed a strong leader for the time, proposing emergency powers and the position of chancellor for himself. When this vote failed, the death of Clubhausia followed. John declared Lorentia as an independent nation, backed with the support of many. They claimed the alcove that Clubhausia controlled and soon decimated what was left of it.

Lytera broke off it’s personal union with Clubhausia, with Amelia content to watch the fires burn. It wasn’t that she or any other Lyteran wanted this to happen, but if she intervened, the fragile friendship she had with both leaders would have collapsed.

Clubhausia as a nation in exile took up residence in the strategic location of Stonefield park, the playground. However, the drawback was it’s unfortunate use by local people, making meetings almost impossible. Clubhausia imploded in March of that year, with many smaller warlords vying for power.

With Lorentia in the former alcove, Fizona took up residence in the local football goal area. While a bad position due to it being open and on a flat plain, it’s height and easy climbing made it a hard spot to capture.

Lyteran Intervention

Due to outside circumstances, the Lyteran government and Fizonian leadership had increasing hostility towards each other. The interception of the ‘StonePark Telegram’, a message from Fizona to the many warlords promising them high positions in power in exchange for destroying not only Lorentia but Lytera as well saw diplomatic relations break off.

While the Lyteran army was non-existent due to its size at the time, Amelia volunteered for the Lorentian army. While this brought Lytera into the war, the Lyteran army never technically fought.

Major battles and fights shook the park and school, with the final act of the war being an all-out attack on the final day of school. This saw water balloons, silly string and lightsabers being used to fight, with the battle ending due to the intervention of what remained of Clubhausia’s government. The last leader of Clubhausia, while his nation had been non-existent for months, still had influence. He brokered a deal for Lorentian and Fizonian hostilities to end, and they would resume in the next week in an all-out final battle. While hostilities ended, the war had left a messy chaotic battlefield. The alcove was ruined and remains so to this day.

This ‘Final Battle’ never came. Battle plans, group names and operations are all that remains of this. In Lorentian documents, the ‘Letzter Krieg’ was the battles name. In Fizonian, it was simply called ‘Endgame’. The battle never happened for a multitude of reasons, with trips, and general unavailability being the main reasons.

A minor skirmish occurred in August 2014. While no fighting occurred, John, Amelia and Zoe met unplanned, and an argument ensued.

Cold War

Due to Zoe and Amelia going to the same school with John going to a different one, relations between the two enemies began to improve. Since the treaty had expired, Lorentia and Fizona were still at war, though Lytera pulled out its support in September of that year, Amelia remained in the Lorentian army.

Improved relations between Lytera and Fizona led to an agreement. If open hostilities would resume, and a ceasefire had been attempted, Lytera would assist Fizona.

The Treaty of Bourne

The Reunion of Bourne’s students in 2015 was shaky at best between the warlords, Fizona, Lytera and Lorentia. Lytera’s diplomat, the Grand Duchess Amelia, stayed out of the talks, socialising with her friends who stayed out of the conflict, wanting to talk due to them not seeing each other in a year.

The Treaty of Bourne was signed on that special day in July, seeing the end of the war and the relinquishing of claims on Stonefield Park. All powers involved agreed to it, except one warlord of note, the Hassan Caliphate. This warlord left, and it is unknown if he continued his micronational career. However, he had no impact in the war aside from the treaty.

Fizona would soon dissolve afterwards, though hostility remained.

The Battle to End All Battles & Aftermath

The backing of the more democratic Fizona was seen as a betrayal of their western allies by John and the remains of Lorentia. At the next reunion, John attempted to ambush and defeat Amelia in a one on one fight, but lost. John was sent into exile.

As of 2019, Lytera is the only one of the Ruislip Nations to remain. Until 2019 and the end of High School, Queen Amelia refused to declassify the files Lytera had on the subject, not wanting to bring the event back into public memory and spark another powder-keg in the area. It’s survival when the others all fell was not a coincidence. When school ended at the end of 2014, many of Lorentia and Fizona’s supporters left, as the leaders would never be back at school. Lytera had the perks of a younger sibling, who kept many members at least invested in Lytera. The other nations lacked this, so popularity dwindled, and they collapsed into the sea of defunct nations.

In 2019, Lytera released the Ruislip Tetrarchy document, detailing the history of the Ruislip Region and the civil war in detail, based on documents from the time and interviews with involved participants.
