James Irwin (born James Anthony Irwin, 2008), is an Irish retired micronational politician and army officer who served as the second President of Roscamistan, having taken the office from his predecessor Thomas Jacobs, from 18 May 2021 to 23 June 2021. He was also the first Prime Minister of Mervustan when the Province of Mervustan was made autonomous, from 27 April 2021 to 23 June 2021. His time in Roscamistan was one of great importance, having shaped it more than anybody else, besides Thomas Jacobs, Fearghas MacLochlainn and Adam Flannery.
Time in politics
Beginning
Irwin became involved with Roscamistan in late March 2021, when he became lowly minister. Irwin’s first major position in Roscamistan was becoming the first Premier of Mervue, an autonomous province within Roscamistan, on 1 April 2021, he later became Prime Minister of Mervustan, the successor position to the Mervue Premiership, on 27 April 2021. He became the first Chief of the Defence Staff of the Roscamistan Defence Forces on 1 May 2021.
Leader of the Coup
Main article 17thMayCoup
Things were good until 17 May 2021, when he was frustrated at the President of Roscamistan, Thomas Jacobs, making laws directly for Mervustan more and more. He, along with the Chancellor of Galway City, Major Kayden Conboy, and the Deputy Minister of Defence, Dean Merritt claimed Jacobs was but not limited to, a communist, evil, a dictator and destroying the autonomous status of Mervustan province. By the end of the school day, Thomas Jacobs had been overthrown by Irwin, now leader of the rebel faction. Irwin then became the second President of Roscamistan and Kayden Conboy became the second Vice President of Roscamistan. Irwin was now in firm control of both the National Cabinet of Roscamistan and his Provincial Cabinet in the Province of Mervustan.
Irwin’s government
After the coup, Irwin solidified his control over Roscamistan, keeping Thomas Jacobs in his Cabinet, but with the low role of Minister of Internal Polish Affairs.
Over time, his predecessor Thomas Jacobs began to regain his influence, becoming for the first and as of August 2022, one of two times a Co-Vice President, first in rank, with Kayden Conboy, and serving from 8 June 2021 to 23 June 2021.
Over time, it became apparent that Irwin was showing disinterest in the Government. But he did try to use his powers. He attempted to create new ministries, none of which came to fruition under his leadership.
Resignation
After Thomas Jacobs kept calling for his resignation, he finally gave in, knowing he couldn't stay in power anymore. In a lost document which is still being looked for that James Irwin and Thomas Jacobs made, Irwin transferred the powers and duties of the presidency, disregarding the line of succession, Thomas Jacobs became the third President of Roscamistan at 10:55 A.M, 23 June 2021, and at 11:00 A.M, 23 June 2021, Kayden Conboy was sacked as Vice President.
Irwin also resigned from the premiership of Mervustan, vacating the office. This ended his time in Roscami politics. Two days later, the sixth class pupils of 2020/2021 left the school for the last time for their summer holidays.
After this, his legacy was initially disgraced and made to look bad but in recent times after the first presidential election, his reputation in Roscami politics has been restored, with now a street and an award named after him.
Return to active service
In Mid September 2021, James Irwin was persuaded by his brother Evan Irwin, his successor as Prime Minister of Mervustan and the First Secretary of State Adam Flannery to join the Mervustan militia, along with his neighbour and friend Patrick Conway and the Jim ' the imp ' Hearne, and once again became an active captain in the Roscamistan Army, now subordinate the Governor of Mervustan as the Commander of the Mervustan Milita.
Personal life
He was born in 2008 and is the middle child of the family. His brother Evan Irwin is the first Viscount Mervustan and was the second Prime Minister of Mervustan, staying so from 28 June 2021 until 3 November 2021, when he was sacked and Deputy Prime Minister David Moore succeeded Lord Mervustan as Prime Minister.
