Prince Theo of Ebenthal (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, 16 May 2008) is a Prince of Ebenthal and the oldest nephew of King Arthur II of Ebenthal. He had also previously been a Prince of Roschfallen. Despite being the King's oldest nephew, he is currently the third on the line of succession to the throne of Ebenthal according to semi-salic law, as son of the King's third sister. Like his first cousin and heir to the throne Heitor, Prince of Altenburg, Theo is somewhat actively engaged in Ebenthal's micronational politics, having swore the Constitution of Ebenthal and participated in few state events.

Biography

Early life and education

Prince Theo was born in Rio de Janeiro, being the firstborn of Princess Eleine of Ebenthal to her then partner Diego da Silveira. By his mother's side, he is the oldest nephew to King Arthur II of Ebenthal as well as first grandson to Armando, 5th Baron of Roches. He was baptized at the Church of Saint Jude the Apostle, where he was later catechized.

The Prince was enrolled in several private schools in the southern zone of Rio de Janeiro, currently attending the Colégio Imperial. Currently, Theo is also enrolled in an English course (Wizard) and in the footvolley school in Botafogo.

Royal activities

Despite having been Prince of Roschfallen, Theo never performed any state events for that realm. However, since he became Prince of Ebenthal, his interest in micronational practice has awakened. On his 12th birthday in 2020 he swore to the Constitution of Ebenthal and subsequently participated in two other state events alongside his uncle, the King, and his cousin, the Prince of Altenburg.

Following his 14th birthday, Theo inquired of his uncle why he, despite being his eldest nephew, was not the heir to the throne, but Heitor, whereupon King Arthur II explained the workings of the Semi-Salic Law. Despite not having engendered this, a movement emerged advocating that Prince Heictor be replaced as heir apparent by Prince Theo due to the latter being older and more mature and having a more moderate temperament, which would make him a better candidate for the throne in the event of a Arthur's succession. This movement came to be referred to as "Theotonics". The 1st Count of Nordwind soon assumed responsibility for the emergence of the Theotonics and introduced to the House of Aristocrats a bill abolishing the line of succession and allowing the King to name his successor from among the members of his Royal House.

Roschfallenian offer

At dawn of 7 and 8 July 2022, the Government of Roschfallen, a kingdom founded by the House of Bruyn of which Theo is a part but no longer ruled by it, suddenly offered the throne of the country to the Prince Theo, and Regent Benjamin Azoulay came to regard Theo as Crown Prince of Roschfallen during the period when the offer went unanswered. This generated a diplomatic crisis between Roschfallen, Karnia-Ruthenia and Ebenthal, since, according to the Treaty of Viden signed between the heads of state of the three countries between July and August 2021, Roschfallen was part from the sphere of influence of Karnia-Ruthenia, known as the Imperial Circle, and such an offer of the throne made by the Regent of Roschfallen to a Prince of Ebenthal could theoretically violate the treaty as it was made without the knowledge of the Karno-Ruthenian Monarch and as it was offered to a dynast from Ebenthal, who relinquished influence over Roschfallen through the treaty. In 18 July Theo declined the offer to becoming King of Roschfallen and instead declared his wish to become heir to the Ebenthali throne, toppling his cousin Heitor, Prince of Altenburg, who, despite being King Arthur's second nephew after Theo, it is the first in the line of succession according to Semi-Salic Law since his mother is the King's first sister, while Theo's is his third sister.
