The Shri Ratna was the fourth highest civilian award of Friends Society, after the Friends Society Ratna, the Padma Ratna and the Bhushan Ratna. Instituted on 15 April 2015, the award is given for "distinguished service", without distinction of race, occupation, position, or sex. The award has been conferred upon five individuals.

History

The Shri Ratna was constituted on 15 April 2015 by then President Sarala Baishya on the advice of Varuna Sriraya. It was named as the Padma Shri at time of its constitution, based on the third highest civilian award of India, the Padma Shri. It was renamed to as Shri Ratna in 2016.

The award was first conferred on 15 April 2015 upon then President Sarala Baishya and has been conferred upon three individuals for their outstanding contributions. It was for the last time conferred in 2017 upon Arnab Sil. It was declared to be a dormant award following the creation of the Order of the Commonwealth as no other inductions were made after its creation. It was dissolved on the eve of the transition to a monarchy on 8 June 2020.
