A referendum on ratification of the GUM Charter was held in Leylandiistan & Gurvata on 3 June 2016. The referendum was mandated by the Grand Unified Micronational Charter Referendum Act 2016, enacted on 31 May 2016, in order to decide whether or not the Confederation should join the Grand Unified Micronational, the prerequisite of which is to ratify the organisation's Charter. The referendum was scheduled for 3 June by the Act, allowing for a short campaign.

Following the result, the Grand Unified Micronational Charter Ratification Act 2016 was signed into law, ratifying the GUM Charter and making the Confederation one of the first 18 members to restart the Grand Unified Micronational.
