The President of Wegmat is the head of state of the Federal Union of Wegmat. The President is elected every year in December, with the incumbent being James Panton. The president does not have as much power as the Prime Minister of Wegmat. The President's main duty is to appoint the Prime Minister, who is nominated by parliament. The president serves as the chief of staff of the Wegmat Armed Forces. The president is the vice executive within the Council of State. Although not required in law or the Constitution of Wegmat the president is the head of their political party. Due to this the president has immense power in Wegmat Parliament if their party is the governing party. That power was used to propose the Capitalism Act by James Panton.
