The Minister of State for Finance (Hindi: वित्त राज्यमंत्री), commonly shortened as State Minister for Finance is the junior minister in the Ministry of Finance who is also a member of the union council of ministers. The minister of state is responsible to carry out specialised duties as directed to them from time to time by the Prime Minister or the cabinet minister within the ministerial jurisdiction. The first Minister of State for Finance was Abhiraj Kar who was appointed by prime minister Sarala Baishya on 6 December 2015, while the current minister of state is Devin Purcell who has been in office since 18 March 2023.
The Minister of State for Finance often assists their senior ministerial colleague, the Minister of Finance and also carries out duties and heads various departments within the ministry. The minister of state for finance has occasionally simultaneously served as the minister of state in the Ministry of Salaries between 2016 and 2017.
History
Following the constitutional changes of December 2015, the position of the Minister of States were introduced in the government and Sarala Baishya became the first prime minister to appoint junior ministers in the various ministries of the government. The Minister of State for Finance is one of the longest continuing junior ministerial position that exists in the nation and has been existing since 6 December 2015. Abhiraj Kar was the first to be appointed as a minister of state for finance by prime minister Sarala Baishya in her second cabinet. The current minister of state is Johannes Mattias Toome who has been in office since 14 May 2023.
The Minister of State of Finance was known as the Parliamentary Secretary to the Chancellor of Treasury between May and October 2018 after the Ministry of Finance was renamed as the Treasury.
Sixteen individuals have served as the Minister of State for Finance since the introduction of the position in December 2015. Bishakha Das was appointed as the minister of state for finance on six separate occasions while Arsal Abbas Mirza is the only former minister of state to serve as the cabinet minister of finance. He was appointed as the cabinet minister immediately after relinquishing the duties of the minister of state. Since July 2022, the ministers of state of finance have also served as the minister of state for external affairs as well. Arsal Abbas Mirza, Johannes Mattias Toome, and Devin Purcell have served as ministers of state in both the finance and external affairs ministries at the same time.
Roles and duties
The Minister of State for Finance is responsible for assisting the Minister for Finance in the discharge of their functions in formulating Vishwamitra's nation's economy, financial infrastructure, management, etc. and other duties over the ministry and the various departments, including:

- Department of Digital Economy
- Department of Budget
- Department of Financial Services
- Department of Monetary Development and Creation
