The Minister of State for Home Affairs (Hindi: गृह राज्यमंत्री), commonly shortened as State Minister for Home Affairs is the junior minister in the Home Ministry who is also a member of the union council of ministers. The minister of state is responsible to carry out specialised duties as directed to them from time to time by the Prime Minister or the cabinet minister within the ministerial jurisdiction. The first Minister of State for Home Affairs was Saikat Seal who was appointed by prime minister Sarala Baishya on 6 December 2015, while the current minister of state is Shivangi Roy who has been in office since 13 October 2023.
The Minister of State for Home Affairs often assists their senior ministerial colleague, the Minister of Home Affairs and also carries out duties and heads various departments within the ministry.
Apart from the Minister of State for Home Affairs who is the principal junior minister in the ministry, several other ministers of state have historically been appointed in the ministry. Those ministers of state held the independent charge over particular departments of the ministry instead of the entire ministry. These include the Minister of State for Internal Security, the Minister of State for Official Languages, etc.
History
Following the constitutional changes of December 2015, the position of the Minister of States were introduced in the government and Sarala Baishya became the first prime minister to appoint junior ministers in the various ministries of the government. The Minister of State for Home Affairs is one of the longest continuing junior ministerial position that exists in the nation and has been existing since 6 December 2015. Saikat Seal was the first to be appointed as a minister of state for home affairs by prime minister Sarala Baishya in her second cabinet. The current minister of state is Shivangi Roy who has been in office since 13 October 2023.
Among the other ministers of state include Mridul Amin who served as the Minister of State for Official Languages (independent charge).

The Minister of State for Home Affairs is responsible for assisting the Minister for Home Affairs in the discharge of their functions and duties over the ministry and the various departments, including:
- Department of Civil Administration
- Department of Internal Security
- Department of Protocol and Ceremonies
- Election Commission of Vishwamitra
- Gazette of Vishwamitra
- Royal Police Force of Vishwamitra
