Glainamar is an Austenasian Territory which is an enclave of Newfoundland, Canada. It is located in the Austenasian Province of Vinland, in the Duchy of New Royton, in the region of Northern Austenasia. It consists of a portion of a garden on a residential property measuring roughly 14,948 square foot, claimed from the town of Carbonear, in addition to a 1,095 square foot exclave composed of a woodland cabin.

The territory was annexed by an Imperial Decree on 12 March 2024, after it was claimed for the Empire by its owner, the now Lord Anthony Griffin. Griffin was appointed the Governor and Baron of Glainamar upon its annexation.

History

Glainamar

Records for the land which Glainamar presently sits go back to 1885, under the ownership of Michael Butler and his wife Bridget Ellis. They had a son, Michael Jr., who married a woman with the last name French and moved to Halifax, Nova Scotia.

Michael Butler died in 1899 and left the land and house to his caregiver, Thomas French. Thomas, a former miner, resided in the house until his death in 1939. Thomas left the house and land to his brother-in-law, Michael Butler Jr., under the condition that he return home and work the land. Michael did not return home and the land reverted to Thomas French's neighbour, William Kavanagh.

Kavanagh tore down the original house and sold the land in 1954 to George Hoskins, a station agent with Canadian National Railways. In 1956, George and his family constructed a new house and moved in. The new house was named Glainamar by his wife and daughter. The previous building they lived in, they had named Stonehursh.

Throughout the 1980s and 1990s, the land was subdivided and portions of the garden were sold to the Butt and Griffin families. Since 2012, the largest portion of the original property has been owned by the Griffin Family and in 2023, the west portion was transferred to the present Governor, Lord Anthony Griffin, Baron of Glainamar.

On 12 March 2024, the west portion was annexed by the Empire of Austenasia as a Territory, and Anthony Griffin was made its first Governor.

Glain Interior

On 13 April the following month, the Territory expanded with the annexation of the Glain Interior, a woodland cabin approximately 7.2 miles to the west of Glainamar proper.

The woodland cabin at the Glain Interior was constructed around 1979 - 1980. It consisted of a single room with a bunkbed, table, and wood stove. The cabin was named Archie Gully Inn, after the pond it sits adjacent to, Archie Gully. In the mid 1980s, the wood stove was stolen from the cabin and it was left primarily abandoned, until recently. Access to the cabin became restricted after a swamp developed in the middle of the road, that led to the cabin, in a densely wooded area. Access is now granted by a 10 minute foot trek.
